Safer Towing Using a Rollback Truck
Towing: Safety First
Towing a vehicle using our rollback flatbed truck is one of the safest and most secure methods available, especially for transporting damaged or immobile vehicles. Here's a short guide outlining the process we use and the essential safety rules we follow.
Our Process:
Position of the Truck:
The rollback truck is parked on a level surface as close as safely possible to the vehicle needing a tow. The truck’s parking brake is set, and hazard lights are turned on.Lower the Flatbed:
The hydraulic system is activated to tilt and slide the bed backward, creating a ramp to the ground.Prepare the Vehicle:
A winch is used to pull the car onto the bed. Composite skates may be used if the wheels are damaged or if the vehicle will not go into neutral.Secure the Vehicle:
Once the car or truck is on the bed, heavy-duty tie-down straps or chains are attached to all four wheels or designated towing points to prevent movement during transport.Transport the Vehicle:
Your operator will then drives cautiously to the destination, avoiding sudden stops or sharp turns.
Key Safety Measures:
We Inspect Equipment: We regularly inspect all straps, chains, winch, hydraulics, and other equipment to ensure reliability and safety.
We Avoid Overloading: Our operators know the weight limits of the truck and always confirm the towed vehicle’s weight is within capacity.
Wear Safety Gear: Our operators wear highly visible and reflective vests, pants and gloves when working.
Using a rollback flatbed truck not only protects the towed vehicle from wear and tear but also provides stability and control during transit. When performed correctly and safely, this method minimizes risks to both the vehicle and other road users. If you need emergency or scheduled towing or recovery, contact Lakes Area Towing!
